That's a good sign, as it means there's not a problem with the Windows firewall or the port configuration on the windows machine.
One question: Have you tried requesting a URL with an IP address instead of a hostname? If the client is attempting to use the Windows machine as a gateway for DNS, that will fail (unless you find some means to get that machine to serve DNS)
I'll give this a try on my router at home this weekend and see if I can figure out what's afoot.
